Merry Christmas from MBO!

Merry Christmas from your MilitaryByOwner family!

It's that time of year again when Santa visits with gifts; we decorate our Christmas trees, sing holiday carols, and read “The Night Before Christmas” once again.

Christmas is magical and full of excitement. Life is full of holiday festivities like office parties, ugly sweater contests, shopping, decorating, baking, and on it goes. It's one of the busiest seasons of the year and we don’t feel like we can keep up until it is all over and then it's time to take down the decorations. We promise ourselves that next year we will not do as much, that we will take a little break from Christmas; but by the time the next year rolls around, we are over our frustrations and sign up to do it all again. We cannot help ourselves!

There is a comfort in Christmas and its traditions. This is especially true for military families who are constantly on the move. Our houses, neighbors, and friends may all be different at each duty station we're assigned to, but our traditions at Christmas remain the same. My mom and I baked cookies for Santa every Christmas Eve, my friend and her family bake a birthday cake for Jesus, and my professor from college buys poinsettias for the church's Christmas service and gives them to random people's houses after the service. These traditions serve as a way to spend more time with family and enjoy the holiday together.

The holiday is a time to spend with family, or spend with friends if family is far away. Christmas is to be spent with one another and remember why we are celebrating.

Christmas is a celebration of Jesus’ birth. And aren’t we all grateful for that! So take a minute to be thankful and reflect on the true meaning of Christmas!

Merry Christmas!
