When searching for a new home, it’s interesting to see what types of properties will rent for $1,500 per month across the country.

Although they might be what you’d expect (less space in big cities), there are some surprises in the mix. Single family homes, condos, apartments, and even waterfront properties are available through MilitaryByOwner’s collection of rentals.

Here are a unique few that offer a lot of bang for their geographical buck!

1) Summerville, South Carolina

Montly rent: $1,450

Who wouldn’t want to live near the Number One City in the World? Travel + Leisure loves Charleston, South Carolina, and you will too. The secret of Summerville is its proximity to the Holy City. It's easy in and easy out of downtown when the throng of tourists gets too thick. This three bedroom two bath house will welcome you home with open arms after a day of strolling through Charleston’s historic streets.

Inside, the space feels open thanks to high ceilings and neutral paint. Less than 10 years old, the house has stainless appliances and plentiful cabinets in the kitchen. Upstairs, the guest bedrooms are large and have walk-in closets. The master bedroom is also quite spacious and the well-lit bathroom shows a double vanity, shower, and separate tub.

The front yard’s curb appeal isn’t lacking for sure, but the corner lot makes the property extra enticing for families with children and pets, while the possibility of three seasons worth of outdoor entertaining makes for fun party planning.

2) San Antonio, Texas

Montly rent: $1,190

Let’s start with extras in this home. The list is long!

  • Jacuzzi garden tub
  • Arched doorways
  • Reverse osmosis water filter system
  • Two car garage
  • Extra room for dedicated exercise/play space/office

Fort Sam Houston is less than 10 miles away, allowing more time at home for relaxing and enjoying a corner lot yard with a view of a protected nature area. The master suite’s amenities are top notch, including a light infused bathroom and an enviable walk-in closet.

Outside, the home is an eye-catcher because of its contemporary exterior lines and brick construction.

3) Severna Park, Maryland

Monthly rent: $1,400

Welcome to waterfront living on the Severn River. This affordable two bedroom and one bathroom home is a water lover’s dream. The access privileges extended to the tenant include an onsite pier and community marina and boat ramp nearby.

Ideally located between the US Naval Academy and Fort Meade NSA, the drive should be nearly 20 minutes to each, which means extra time to boat and fish in your backyard. The lower level apartment has been updated and ready for move in. This is a perfect rental scenario for the single military professional who enjoys the outdoors and the vibrant city life of nearby Annapolis.

4) Colorado Springs, Colorado

Monthly rent: $1,275.00

A central location near the downtown area with shopping and outdoor space is just one reason to love this rental, but there are certainly many other reasons to explore what this home has to offer.

An inviting red door welcomes guests and family to enjoy the front yard. A beautiful green lawn and a tree with potential for a swing means hours of fun in the envy provoking Colorado weather.

This remodeled home has plenty of living space with four bedrooms and two baths. Its unique tri-level structure allows for the sense of privacy, yet the neutral colors throughout the home contribute to the open feel. The kitchen doesn’t disappoint with stainless appliances and new countertops and cabinets.

Those stationed at Peterson AFB and Fort Carson will relish in the less than 10-mile commute from this property.
